Water purification and waste incineration are potentially fruitful areas in which China is planning to invest hundreds of billions of euros in the next years, said ITDH in a release, summarising the findings of a session held for Hungarian businessmen in Budapest on Monday.

The forum discussed the visit of a Chinese delegation to Hungary to explore bilateral trade opportunities on March 25-29. During the visit, Chinese business leaders representing 40 companies met the leaders of 132 Hungarian businesses.

The Chinese delegation also visited plants and industrial parks in 30 prospective cities and towns across the country.

According to Central Statistical Office data Hungary's imports from China last year totalled 4.18 billion euros, 11.5 percent more than in 2007. Hungary's exports amounted to 759.3 million euros, 1.9 percent more than in the previous year.
